LMC:
What about using wigs? How do you attach a wig?
LL:
It
depends on the piece, but generally I just glue it on.
LMC:
What adhesives do you use to attach hair? What about hairlines?
LL:
I
usually use contact cement. But don’t YOU use it, because it’s very
nasty stuff. But it sure holds the hair on!
LMC:
Any
tips on punching hair? In what instance would you punch it instead
of gluing it?
LL:
Punching, or ‘insertion’, looks best on just about anything but
going through latex sure wears out the needles. And you have to
take care that the paint used won’t pull away from the rubber a tiny
bit every time you punch a hole.
LMC:
How
did you feel to have your own lifecast done into a mask by Henry
Alvarez?
LL:
Oh my
GOD!, what greater honor could possibly befall a haunter? Now, I’m
waiting for the Basil Gogos painting and that McFarlane action
figure.
LMC:
How has the Internet impacted the mask world?
LL: Just
like everything else: More, Faster. More great stuff accessible,
but more rip-offs too. More wonderful new friends to be made, but
more jerks too. But the REALLY bad thing is that nobody sends real
photos any more. The Internet is a good place to find supplies,
though.
LMC:
What are some of your pet peeves?
LL:
Someone
going ahead and casting a sculpture that was SO close but not quite
there yet! People who say they ‘could care less’ when what they
mean is that they ‘couldn’t care less’. Any movie with a
multi-million-dollar production value and a script worth 2¢. My day
job. The fumes from contact cement.
LMC:
What
makes you happy?
LL:
Having
the time to do what I want to do. Changing something that looks
like crap into something cool. Seeing a really good movie. Seeing
David happy. And being appreciated…so, thanks!
LMC:
If you
had 10 million dollars, what would you be doing?
LL:
first
thing of course, is that I’d quit my day job. Then I’d probably
spend most of my time and money making cool stuff for haunts, and
fixing up my house.
LMC:
If you hadn’t gotten involved with masks and haunts, what do you see
yourself doing?
LL:
Maybe
I’d make Teddy Bears.
